Every pet deserves a quality home life, free from owner abuse, neglect or ignorance.  The Rock Island County Animal Care and Control Shelter welcomes  ALL animals in Rock Island County.   No animal is ever turned away.   In partnership with QCPAWS,  our philosophy is to provide quality care to the animals to help ensure placement of all adoptable pets into their forever home. 

The shelter’s pet adoption services pair healthy animals with loving families.  Each Adoptable pet has been spayed or neutered, given age appropriate vaccinations and microchipped, affording them a safe and healthy start in their new home.

 
Hours of Operation

The Rock Island County Animal Care and Control Shelter is open to the public seven (7) days a week, excluding holidays. The shelter's hours of operation are divided into adoption and administrative hours as indicated below. The vaccination clinic, surgical hours and holidays are also shown.

Closed Daily from 11 AM - Noon

Adoption Hours:

Viewing of animals up for adoption: Animals may not be seen prior to noon, as these hours are used for cleaning and caring for the animals.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday:   Noon until 5:00 P.M.
Wednesdays:   Noon until 6:00 P.M.
Saturdays & Sundays:   Noon until 4:00 P.M.

Administrative Hours:

Front Desk: Registration tags, purchases of veterinarian preventatives, stray redemptions, releasing or drop-off of stray animals, or payment of fines.

Closed Daily from 11 AM - Noon
Monday, Thursday and Friday:  Open 8:00 A.M. - 9:00 A.M. for surgery drop off only.
Monday thru Sunday:   9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.

Surgical:

Monday, Thursdays, and Fridays by appointment only. To set up an appointment, call (309) 558-DOGS (3647).

Vaccination Clinic:

Wednesdays from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. No appointment necessary.

Shelter Adoption Fees 

 
NOTE: If you are a resident of Rock Island County, your first year's registration is included in the adoption fee for adult pets. Any known medical history of the animal will be provided.
